HD vs 4K in plain terms
HD is enough for almost every feed or web post. Choose 4K when you’ll crop hard or put the image on a big screen.

Know what enhancement can and cannot recover
Upscaling creates additional pixels using patterns inferred from the source. It can reduce visible compression, sharpen edges, and make an image easier to use at a larger size, but it cannot recover a face, word, or license plate that was never legible in the original.
That distinction matters when the image is evidence, documentation, identification, or news material. An enhanced detail may look plausible without being true. Keep the untouched original and never describe inferred detail as recovered fact.
Choose output size from the destination
Use HD for ordinary web and social publishing unless the layout, crop, or display genuinely needs more pixels. Choose 4K for large screens, tight crops, or print preparation where the extra dimensions are useful. A larger file is not automatically a more accurate image.
Start without aggressive instructions. If the output remains noisy, add one targeted note such as “reduce block compression while keeping skin texture natural.” Requests for extreme sharpness can create halos, waxy faces, or false texture.
Compare the details people notice
View original and enhanced versions side by side at 100 percent. Inspect eyes, teeth, hairlines, fingers, jewelry, text, repeating patterns, and straight edges. Then zoom out to the intended display size and check whether the change is actually useful.
For portraits, ask whether the person still looks like the same person rather than merely “sharper.” For documents or graphics, retype important text instead of relying on reconstructed letters. Export a new file and retain the original separately.

- The useful result should look cleaner at article size without changing expressions, clothing details, signs, or the relationship between people. HD is sufficient; a 4K file would add weight without a clear destination need.

- Compare faces and any visible text with the original, reject invented detail, confirm photo permission, add descriptive alt text, and archive the original alongside the edited export.

Limitations
